Freya & Jay
Wooton Park — Henley-In-Arden
A relaxed kind of wedding, set in a place that couldn’t be more impressive
Eastnor Castle doesn’t need an introduction. It’s grand, dramatic and built to impress. But Freya and Jay managed to take all that grandeur and make it feel calm, natural, and completely theirs.
Freya got ready inside the castle. It’s an impressive space but she didn’t let it steal the show. The morning was quiet, steady, no stress. She had everything under control. No fuss, no flapping, just taking it all in and getting ready in her own time. It felt calm, and she carried that through the whole day.

Jay got ready in another part of the castle with his lot. It was easy-going from the start. Bit of back and forth, a few decent laughs, and someone cracked out the whisky before the ties were even on. No speeches, just a quick toast and a shot to steady the hands. It felt relaxed. No drama, no rush—just Jay getting ready to marry Freya, and clearly looking forward to it.
The ceremony took place inside the castle, with one of their family members up front leading it. Straight away, it felt different. Not rehearsed, not formal for the sake of it, just someone speaking from the heart and actually meaning it. You could see it hit Freya and Jay a few times. Not in a dramatic way, just small looks, little shifts. The kind of stuff that sticks with you more than the big, obvious moments. It felt close, even in a place that massive.
After the ceremony, everyone spilled out into the grounds with a drink in hand. The weather held, the music kicked in and the nerves dropped. Freya and Jay looked like they were finally able to breathe. It had that nice in-between feel of celebration without the chaos.
The wedding breakfast was set up in one of the castle’s side rooms. Big windows, good light, and enough space for people to settle in without it feeling too formal. Speeches landed well, funny in places, heavy in others but always honest. Then came the cake. No dainty knife just a full-blown sabre. Freya and Jay took one swing between them and absolutely nailed it. Not your average cake cutting, and all the better for it.
Shooting portraits with Freya and Jay was easy. We’d done their engagement session before, so there was no awkward warm-up. They were already comfortable in front of the camera. We didn’t have to do much. A few quiet walks, a bit of breathing space, and the rest just happened. The castle gave us everything we needed. Every corner looked like a film set, but it never pulled attention away from the couple.

And then came the evening.

It started calm, like most evenings do. A few drinks, some warm air outside the castle, the first dance. Then the drum and bass kicked in. The shift was instant. The floor filled. Shoes came off. Suits got loose. A full switch from elegance to chaos, and it was brilliant. No one held back. The castle might be formal, but the dancefloor didn’t get the memo.
Freya & Jay's Glowing review
“For us having photos of our special day was one of the most important things when planning. I’d heard some real horror stories about wedding photographers so was very nervous the same would happen to us.
Thankfully instead of a nightmare we had an amazing dream!! James first did our engagement photos and we knew from that point he was the photographer for us. He was always prompt when responding, was clear with communication and of course the best things - his photos were so so SO amazing!
On our wedding day he blended seamlessly into the day, his quick wit and humour providing a good laugh and calmed some pre-aisle nerves!
Then he kept in touch about our photos and when they arrived I was in shock!! The day went by so quickly and yet here I was reliving every moment through these truly beautiful memories!! We couldn’t be more grateful to James and we’d 100% recommend to anyone and everyone!!”
Freya and Jay, thanks for having me along for a day that ticked every box without trying too hard. You handled one of the most impressive venues in the country like it was home, and gave me everything I could want to shoot.

If you’re planning a wedding at Eastnor Castle and want someone to capture it without turning the whole thing into a production, drop me a message. Let’s keep it simple and make something that lasts.
