Mark and James planned their day without overthinking it. No unnecessary drama, no over-the-top themes. Just a wedding that felt like them. Relaxed, honest and packed with character.

Mark brought the jokes, James brought the calm, and together they made the kind of couple you just enjoy being around.

Mark and James got ready together in the Stagecoach, with their bridesmaids there to keep the energy up. It was a relaxed start to the day, nothing too serious, just everyone mucking in and getting ready at their own pace. There was a lot of laughter, a few last-minute adjustments and the usual “does this look right” kind of questions. You could tell they were both taking it in, even if they pretended not to be. No drama, no big reveal, just two people getting ready together with the people who matter most.

The ceremony was indoors, held in the barn at The Hundred House Hotel. It’s a cracking space for a wedding. Cosy, warm and full of charm without needing to add much to it. Mark and James both walked down the aisle with their bridesmaids, which instantly set the tone. No tradition for the sake of it. Just the people they care about walking them in.

The vows were genuine and heartfelt. You could feel how much they care about each other. But even then, there were a few side-eyes and grins that kept it from ever getting too serious. That’s what made it work so well.

After the ceremony, the whole place shifted into that post-vow ease. Guests were chatting, drinks were flowing, and I had just the right amount of time to steal the two of them for portraits. Now, The Hundred House has a bit of a swing out in the garden. Mark decided to give it a go. Bad idea. He didn’t quite make a graceful dismount. James stood nearby, watching it unfold with a face that said it all—part “are you alright” and part “what did you think was going to happen?”

The rest of the afternoon rolled out just as easily. Great weather, great people and a venue that always delivers. I’ve worked at The Hundred House a fair few times now and being one of their recommended suppliers always makes things smoother. Staff know what they’re doing, and they let couples enjoy their day without getting in the way.

The wedding breakfast room had just the right feel. Simple details, nothing too much, but it still felt like their space. It fit the day relaxed, personal and full of character. Just a good room for people to sit, eat, and enjoy themselves.

Portraits with Mark and James were easy. Nothing posed, nothing staged, just the two of them being themselves. They didn’t need direction, they were too busy laughing, winding each other up and just enjoying the moment. Their connection did all the work. You could see how much fun they were having together, and it showed in every frame. Real smiles, proper joy, and the kind of energy you can’t fake.

The speeches hit the right balance. A few laughs, a few moments that landed quietly, and nothing that dragged. You could see how much love there was for Mark and James without anyone needing to spell it out. Just the right words, from the right people.

The evening rolled in without a shift in pace. No pressure, no big switch—just music, drinks, and everyone in the right mood. Some hit the dancefloor straight away, others stayed outside catching the last bit of light. It felt like exactly what the day had been building to. Easy, full of warmth, and no one rushing to leave.
