Matt & Lauren
High Grosvenor House — Bridgnorth
You know it’s a good day when you feel like you’re hanging out with mates and also somehow doing your job.
I’d met Matt & Lauren before the big day when we did their engagement shoot, so turning up at High Grosvenor House felt like rocking up to a mate’s wedding. The whole vibe was easy, relaxed and full of warmth. I don’t know how I keep landing chilled couples, but I’m not complaining.

Tucked away just outside Bridgnorth, High Grosvenor House is one of those venues that just gets it right. Space to breathe, stunning light, no awkward corners or dodgy carpets trying to ruin your aesthetic. It all just works.
Matt kick off the prep by getting ready at home, which just so happened to be round the corner from mine. I love it when logistics work in my favour.

He had his best man there, and while the house was quiet, you could feel the nerves. He wasn’t flapping, just doing that classic "keep it together" thing you see when someone really wants the day to go just right.

It was written all over him how much he couldn’t wait to see Lauren.

Lauren was busy getting her hair and makeup done in the main house kitchen, which sounds random but actually worked a treat. Hair and makeup, champagne flowing, music playing, seven women buzzing around and loving life. Her bridesmaids, flower girl and both mums were there, all hyped.

Lauren just looked like she was soaking it all in. That sort of quiet joy that sits on your face when you know it’s going to be a good day. You could see how much she was loving every moment.
The ceremony took place indoors, framed by massive windows that let in this beautifully soft March light. I don’t get many indoor ceremonies that let me shoot ISO64 with no stress — I was living the dream.

Lauren walked in and both of them just broke. Proper tears. Real emotion. One of those moments where the room just melts a bit.

Happiness was written all over them from start to finish. No awkward pauses. No forced smiles. Just two people being fully in it.

And yeah, there were about a thousand moments that felt like *the shot*.
Straight after the ceremony, the whole day settled into a lovely, chilled groove. The weather held up perfectly for March, and the drinks flowed just right.

As always, I gave Matt & Lauren space to enjoy their reception without dragging them off for a shoot marathon. It’s a wedding, not a photo shoot — I’m just there to slot in around the edges.

One moment that stood out was getting to fly the drone for the confetti shot. It was brand new, and I hadn’t really tested it on a job before, but it paid off. That shot from above? Bang on.
We nipped out for portraits just before they sat down to eat. Nothing staged or overcooked, just a wander around the grounds of High Grosvenor. 15, maybe 20 minutes tops.

Because we’d already done the engagement shoot, they were relaxed in front of the camera and totally themselves. No posing drama. No stiff shoulders. Just good light, big smiles and two people who looked spot on.
The room was done up beautifully. Nothing over the top, just clean, elegant details that actually suited the space. It felt like them, stylish without trying too hard, the kind of setup where everything just quietly worked. Always a treat to shoot in a space that’s had a bit of love put into it.
01 /
Laughter in all the right places, a few emotional beats that hit just right, and no one outstayed their welcome on the mic. The kind of speeches where you look around the room and realise everyone’s actually listening.
They had a DJ, and once the first dance was done, Lauren was straight into it with all her bridesmaids — full routine, big energy, no holding back.

Then the heavens opened. I grabbed the opportunity, dragged them outside (nicely), and got one of my favourite rain shots I’ve ever taken. Umbrella, backlight, perfect framing. It’s the kind of photo people ask me about when they see it in my portfolio — and Matt & Lauren love it.
It went dark early, as you'd expect in March, but the sparklers came out, the rain held long enough, and we got the shot. That little burst of light at the end of a long, brilliant day.

No sunset needed — we had something better.
An amazing review from an incredible couple;
“Just Amazing
If you don't consider James, you must be mad. From start to finish the service which has been provided had been outstanding. From the first conversation my wife and I were hooked. The value for money is unbelievable for what you will receive. He's photography skills are amazing and has captured some amazing moments of our wedding. Would highly recommend.”
Matt & Lauren, you absolute legends. From start to finish you made the day a joy to shoot.

One of the weird things about this job is how close you feel to people over the space of a few hours — and then you just sort of vanish again. But this one stuck with me. Two incredible humans, one unforgettable day.

If you’re planning a wedding at High Grosvenor House and want it captured in a way that feels like you, not a Pinterest board — give me a shout.
